Dyslexia Assessments

Pre-Assessment

Assessment

Post Assessment

Get in touch to have an initial chat. This will help you decide if a dyslexia assessment is appropriate.

Prior to assessment, the following information is required:

  • Pre-assessment background information questionnaire completed by the parent/carer and learner.

  • Visual history and visual difficulties questionnaires completed the parent/carer and learner.

  • Teacher feedback questionnaire completed by the school.

  • Sight test completed by an optician within 18 months prior to the assessment.

The assessments take approximately 3-4 hours to complete including rest breaks. Assessments may be completed over 2 sessions in some instances. This will be discussed during the initial consultation.

Assessments will examine:

  • Language

  • Memory

  • Phonological awareness

  • Phonological processing speed

  • Reading

  • Spelling

  • Writing

A full diagnostic assessment and comprehensive report costs £550.

The Assessment Process

Following assessment, a report will be written outlining the learner’s strengths and difficulties. Where there is evidence to support a dyslexia diagnosis, this will be stated within the report. Recommendations will be provided for the individual and for school or college. Recommendations may be used as evidence for exam access arrangements, with prior consultation with the school or college. A dyslexia report is for life and may be used to apply for funded support at university, known as Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) or to help support reasonable adjustments in the workplace.
